Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) has chosen Quintiq, a leading company in supply chain planning and optimisation, to improve its crew and fleet planning and scheduling.
As the national passenger rail operator of Luxembourg, CFL carried more than 20 million passengers last year. Quintiq, headquartered in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, was selected as the best contender in a range of options by the rail operator. It will use its single software platform to synchronise crew and unit planning with train service requests at CFL, help manage disruptions, maintain punctuality and increase cost-effectiveness.
CFL project manager Tom Nickels said: "The primary criterion in selecting the new system was flexibility. In order to cover all our specific needs, we also needed a solution that operated much like our existing software to make the transition easier for our employees. Quintiq's solution met all our needs."
Arjen Heeres, chief operating officer of Quintiq, said: "We are very proud to assist CFL in its efforts to improve customer service and business performance."
